An interivew with Bettina Hanlon

This is my conversation with Bettina Hanlon.

Having just left the Junior age category Betti recently lifted in the 76kg class at her first Open British Powerlifting championships, where she placed 3rd just behind 2 experienced and talented GB lifters. Being able to get this close to victory in her first year as a senior lifter has marked her out as one to watch for the future.

She has a fascinating back story featuring a stint as a GB athlete in a completely different sport, (it’s honestly about as far away from powerlifting as you could imagine) and away from the platform she is an accomplished academic with a bright future ahead of her.

I found her warm, engaging and unencumbered by ego (which considering her achievements to date is quite the feat).
